Sixers

Who Would Sixers Players be if They Were on the Eagles?

The birds are back and I am fired up. Opening week is always an amazing feeling, but this year it just feels even better.

To relate football to the Sixers, let’s compare some of the Sixers current players with ones on the Eagles.

Ben Simmons: Carson Wentz

Quarterback is often compared to what a point guard is for basketball – an offensive general, calls plays and moves the ball around. These guys have more in common than just that, though. Simmons and Wentz both have insane natural talents. They use their height, size, speed, and strength to their advantages on the court and field. Teams can’t have a normal game plan when facing the Sixers or Eagles because of the mismatches these athletic players pose against other squads.

Joel Embiid: Fletcher Cox

The two beasts of the teams. You can’t stop them, you can only hope to contain them. Embiid and Cox do a lot of the dirty work for their teams, and can bully opponents around in the process due to their size and athleticism. When going up against these stars, opponents can’t just face them one on one. Teams need to at least double team most of the time, and even that isn’t always enough to stop the center and defensive tackle.

Mike Scott and Matisse Thybulle: Will Parks and K’Von Wallace

I was trying to compare each player individually, but all four mesh so well together. In addition to their gritty and tough style of play that resonates with the city, they are all fan favorites, especially on social media. Scott with the Hive. Thybulle with the blogs and his personality. Parks showing love to his home city. Wallace connecting to fans on Twitter with commonalities of hard work and love for football. They may not be the biggest stars on the teams, but they will give it their all every time out. That’s something every Philly fan can appreciate.

Al Horford: Nnamdi Asomugha

I know I said current players, and Horford could still have time to change this narrative, but come on…I have to do this. Veteran all star and veteran pro bowler, highly respected by the league and sign huge deals with Philly in free agency. Fans go nuts. We can’t believe we got these stars. Then suddenly, everything vanishes. Whether it is Father Time or something in the water, these two proven players lost all their talent once they came here. They both seem like very nice guys, but they will always leave a bitter taste in the mouths of every Philly fan.
