“Where Are They Now?”- Sixers Edition

Lavoy Allen

The Temple alum had a 3 year stint with the Sixers where he averaged 5.2 points per game and 4.9 rebounds a game. Allen was on the team from 2011-2014.

In 2017, Allen signed with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in China but never ended up joining the team. In 2018, Lavoy was selected by the Capital City Go-Go in the G-league expansion draft.

Jim Farmer

Most people won’t know who this player is and that’s probably a good thing. Farmer only played two games with the Sixers back in the 90′-91′ season. Farmer played 6 years in the NBA with 5 different teams. He averaged only 3 points per game in those two games but his NBA career isn’t why he’s made national news.
The former Sixers forward was recently one 16 men arrested for seeking out sex with minors in Tennessee. Farmer agreed to pay $170 to have sex with a 16-year-old minor. We can all be thankful that his career with the Sixers was a short endeavor.

K.J. McDaniels

McDaniels was drafted by the Sixers with the 32nd overall pick in 2014. The Clemson star quickly became lightning in a bottle coming off the bench for the team, making a name for himself in shot blocking and posterizing dunks. McDaniels averaged 9.2 points per game and 1.3 blocks. I’ll never forget when my friend bought his jersey and he was traded a two days later.

In 2020, the Greensboro Swarm acquired K.J. from the Oklahoma City Blue in the 2020 NBA G-league draft. The guard averaged 9 points a game in only 4 games played.

Spencer Hawes

Spencer Hawes doesn’t get enough credit for being one of the first players to stretch the floor as a big man. Hawes shot 39% from downtown in the 13’ season for the Sixers while average 13 points a game.

At 32 years old Hawes isn’t giving up on finding an NBA career. In the 18’-19’ season, Hawes played for the South Bay Lakers averaging 14.2 points per game. The astonishing part was that he shot 45% from downtown while shooting over 4 threes a game. The big man also supplied 4 assists a game proving that he can still be an efficient stretch forward.

Tony Wroten

The O.G. process. Before there was Joel Embiid there was Tony Wroten. For the people who watch today’s team and say that Hinkie died for this,” then you’ve got to include Wroten in that saying as well. Tony Wroten was a true slasher. His dribble drive-game was absolutely fierce. The 21-year old in the 14’-15’ season averaged nearly 17 ppg with about 5 assists and 1.6 steals. If I completely honest, I still occasionally think about how Wroten could fit on this 2020 team. One can only dream.

Wroten could never capture his Sixers peak once he left Philly. In 2018, Wroten signed with BC/Kalev/Cramo to play in the Estonian-Latvian League. The following year, Wroten signed with a team in the Polish basketball league, then with a team in the Spanish League. Wroten averaged 11.2 ppg in The Liga ACB.

Samuel Dalembert

Dalembert was taken as the 26th pick in the 2001 draft by the Sixers. He had a long, 8 season run, and eventually retired from the league in 215. Dalembert for his Sixers career averaged 8.1 points a game. 3 out of the 8 seasons with the team he averaged over 2 blocks a game, and in the 07’ season, he averaged a double double.

Shortly after he retired, Dalembert was arrested on two counts of battery charges. According to the Boca Rotan police report, Dalembert pushed his girlfriend down then chocked her cousin when she tried to intervene.
