What They’re Wearing – New Faces, New Feet

The trade deadline has come and gone.  The 76ers have gotten a pretty dramatic face-lift.  With new faces come new sneakers.  Let’s take a look at what the newest batch of Sixers have worn in their first two games with the squad and some highlights from their previous teams this season.  Here’s a hint – lots and lots of Kobe’s.

Tobias Harris

After two games, Tobias Harris looks like he may be the player that will end up putting this 76ers over the hump in the Eastern Conference.  He wore the Nike Zoom Kobe A.D. Mid for both games.  He opted for two pairs from the ‘Mamba Mentality’ pack.  Tobias donned the purple pair above dubbed ‘Fearless’ for the Nuggets game.  Against the Lakers he played in the red ‘Passion’ pair.

In his stint with the Clippers, Harris has quietly been wearing some heat on his feet.  Since he usually played after my bed time, I hadn’t really taken notice of his sneakers.  But after the blockbuster deal, I needed to do my research to see what he’d been wearing.  Tobias is a Kobe guy, and he digs deeeep into the closet for some of the sneakers he’s been wearing.

Mike Scott

Mike Scott played in a blue pair of the 2018 Nike Zoom Kobe A.D. for both games thus far in his 76ers tenure.  Scott, like Harris, has pulled out some gems in recent months out in L.A.  His are more of a hodge-podge than Harris’s strict adherence to all things Kobe.

Boban Marjanović

Everyone’s new favorite Sixer wears a size 20 sneaker, so he likely doesn’t have many options.  He has been wearing the Nike Hyperdunk X throughout the season.  He’s worn a red pair for the Sixers in both games.

Jonathon Simmons

Simmons stepped out in the Nike Kyrie 5 “BHM” in garbage time versus the Lakers.  Like Harris and Scott, he’s worn a litany of different sneakers this season.  He has preferred different Kobe models of late, but has also worn various PG and Kyrie sneakers as well.

James Ennis III

Ennis wore the same blue pair of Nike Zoom Kobe A.D. as Mike Scott in his 76ers debut.  He pulled out a pair of the Nike Zoom Kobe A.D. NXT 360 when playing the Lakers on Sunday afternoon.  He’s worn various colorways of that model for all games this season.

There are some news and notes from the guys who have actually been playing on the team since the last installment of “What They’re Wearing.”  Joel debuted a new Under Armour sneaker, Jimmy pulled out some new Jordans, Ben wore a a few new pairs of Hyperdunks, and T.J. got some player exclusive love from UA.

Joel Embiid

Joel has been wearing the newly released Under Armour Spawn Anatomix Low since the game in Sacramento.  I’m honestly surprised that he’s wearing them now.  I anticipated him debuting them in the All-Star Game.  He pulled out a player exclusive pair honoring his home country of Cameroon when playing the Lakers.

 Ben Simmons

Ben stepped out against the Raptors wearing the Nike Hyperdunk X “Black History Month.”  He pulled out a yellow pair against Denver and opted for orange versus the Lakers.  These are a welcome departure from his usual boring footwear.

Jimmy Butler

Jimmy has been wearing the Jordan Supreme Elevation for the past few games.  To my knowledge he’s the only guy in the league wearing them.  These are a pseudo-signature model.  He played in a silver pair against Golden State, which I have a feeling would have been his All-Star Game version, but when he didn’t make the team, he decided to wear them on national TV.  He wore the Black History Month versions in Sacramento and at home against the Nuggets.  He pulled out a custom model in homage of Tyler Junior College – where he played prior to Marquette – on Sunday.

 TJ McConnell

TJ must have gotten a new shipment from UA for the West Coast swing.  He debuted a new colorway of the Under Armour HOVR Havoc Low in blue with a red, white, and blue digi-camo inlay.  He wore a similar pair in white when playing the Warriors.

That’s all this time around.  I’ll hopefully have some news regarding the All-Star Game in the coming days.

Stay tuned.
