Welcome to Bobi’s World

Welcome to Bobi’s World!

We at the Phifth Quarter understand that Sixers fan have one constant, burning need: copious amounts of dank Boban Marjanovic content. That’s why it’s my distinct pleasure to introduce Bobi’s World, your one stop shop for all the need-to-know Bobi news, highlights, and trivia.

When Dario Saric was traded, he left a charmingly-awkward-European-man-sized hole in the hearts of all Sixers fans. Thankfully, Boban is great at filling holes. We’ve got ourselves a new goofy European.

For those of you who haven’t let the book of Boban into your hearts, let me give you a few Bobi basics just to try and illustrate why he’s one of the most important players in the NBA:

      • Boban is the tallest player in the NBA, measuring in at 7’3.
      • Boban is so tall he can dunk without jumping.
      • Boban weights 290lb, which is about 40lbs more than Joel Embiid.
      • Boban hails from Boljevac Serbia, where he first began his professional career at 14 years old.
      • Boban was 6’10 when he first began his professional career.
      • Boban’s best friend is Tobias Harris.
      • Boban and Tobias have been traded together twice in the past two seasons first, from Detroit to Los Angeles, and then again to the Sixers.
      • Boban is a fantastic cycling instructor and dancer.
      • Per 36 minutes, Boban has a career average of 23 pts and 15 rebs.
      • Boban is the NBA’s all-time leader in player efficiency rating (PER) ahead of players like Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
      • Boban is a pop culture expert.
      • Boban has even been cast as an assassin in the newest John Wick film. Seriously.

This list is just the tip of the bobi ice berg. A man of his stature and gravitas cannot be properly summed up in bullet points. I didn’t even mentioned how he looks in a bathing suit yet. SPOILER ALERT: He looks great.

Unfortunately, Bobi is not perfect player. With great size comes very little maneuverability. Because of his gargantuan height and weight, Boban can easily be taken advantage of by smaller, quicker centers and forwards, as was the case against Al Horford and the Celtics. Boban is a great backup for Embiid, but any time a team switches to a small ball line up, it’s best to keep Boban about as far away as possible. This is a big reason why Boban averages just nine minutes per game in his career.

With All-Star weekend in the rear view, the Sixers are going to their eyes on the playoffs from here on out. This will be the first time Boban is a legit contributor on a championship caliber team, so things should be fun to watch. Personally, I’m excited to see how his personality mixes with those of TJ McConnell and Embiid. The second half of the season should be a lot of fun.
