Top Games of the Brett Brown Era

Top Games of the Brett Brown Era

There are plenty of different opinions of the Brett Brown tenure in Philadelphia. Whether you hated him or loved him, I think we can all appreciate what he endured through 7 seasons as head coach. There were some rock bottom lows and some incredible highs dating back to the 2014 season. Let’s take a look at some of the best games and performances of the Brett Brown era.

*This list does not include playoff games. You can find that article titled “Top 5 Playoff Games of the Process Era”

10. Sixers vs Warriors- 2016

The Sixers were so close to taking down the Warriors, who ended the season with the best regular-season record of all-time. Despite the loss, this was one of the highlights of the season considering Sixers ended the year with a 10-72 record. It was astonishing to watch the Sixers take the Warriors down to the last shot in a packed Wells Fargo Arena. Ish Smith led the way for the Sixers with 16 points.

9. The Corey Brewer Game- Vs Rockets- 2019

I’ll never forget Corey Brewer defending James Harden while he was literally on the ground. Brewer’s short stint with the Sixers turned out to be a memorable run. This game will forever be known as the “Corey Brewer” game because of his ability to be a pest to James Harden all game. Joel Embiid also added a stare down block, plus, a 32-point night.

8. Fultz Triple Double vs Bucks- 2018

Everything was perfect around this time. Futlz was finally playing, Eagles had just won the Super Bowl, and Markelle became the youngest player at the time to record a triple-double while the Sixers won 17 straight games going into the playoffs.

7. Sixers vs Bucks- 2019

Sixers beat the Bucks by a score of 130-125 behind Joel’s 40 point performance and Jimmy Butler’s 27 point game. Giannis dunked on Simmons and proceeded to call him a “f**king baby.” The very next play, Simmons jammed a put-back dunk right over him to seal the victory. Giannis probably shouldn’t be trash-talking while they are about to lose, but then again, we can now clearly see that he gets exposed in big-time moments. #overrated.

6. Joel Embiid’s First Game vs Thunder- 2016

The Process arrives and erupts in his first game as a Sixer. Joel shows why he was worth the wait. The Philly crowd was rambunctious that night. Despite the loss, Joel gave us a clutch performance and provided fans with a ray of much-needed hope.

5. Sixers vs Raptors- 2017

Trust the Process chants erupted through Wells Fargo. The fans couldn’t stop chanting it. The Sixers put together a magical run in January during the 16′-17′ season. This is when we knew our time was coming. Embiid and Dario were shining bright and leading the Sixers to big wins, especially against Toronto. The two straight blocks from Saric is one of my favorite plays from one of my favorite players.

4. Sixers vs Cavs- 2018

Sixers locked down the 3 seed with this victory over the Cavs in 2017. Ben Simmons had to step up big time without Embiid in the game and he did just that. Simmons went head-to-toe with Lebron James in his rookie year. Simmons ended the game with 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 13 assists. The Sixers win a tight game that provided many amazing highlights.

3. Sixers vs Celtics- 2019

The Sixers finally beat the Celtics!!! It was a rocky start to the game, but once Marcus Smart got the crowd going by getting ejected, it was all Sixers for the rest of the game. Embiid scored 37 points while Butler carried the team in the 4th and hit the dagger.

2. Joel Embiid vs Lakers- 2017

Embiid proved he was one of the best centers in the league in just his second season. The young stars in Embiid and Simmons shined against the Lakers overhyped core. Embiid put on a show in L.A. and was able to trash talk Lavar after the victory.

1. T.J. McConnell buzzer beater vs Knicks- 2017

Another magical game in January of the 17′ season. The Sixers proved that they had great potential and it was only a matter of time before they were a playoff team. Back then, it was extremely special beating the Knicks. Our one and only T.J. McConnell provided one of the most memorable Process Sixer moments right over Melo and Porzingis.
