The World Needs Tenet

Tenet Is Finally Coming

Now that the Sixers have been eliminated from the bubble, we can focus our attention towards something that’s actually positive for our mental health. After months of multiple delays, Tenet is finally coming to select theaters in the U.S. In fact, more than 80% of the United States will be able to see Tenet over Labor day weekend. Cinema fans finally have something to look forward too after the film industry was forced into a temporary hiatus due to COVID. The long awaited movies that we were promised are finally coming out.

The Plot

Christopher Nolan is back with another mind-bending plot that is sure to amaze and confuse fans at the same time. Nolan has made a name for himself as being one of the only directors coming up with original and creative stories. Inception, Interstellar, Memento, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight Trilogy have become both critically acclaimed and blockbuster phenomenons at the same time. Christopher Nolan loves to keep fans speculating before each film. It has become fascinating going into each Nolan movie having no idea what to expect. The director is great at building up anticipation by emphasizing secrecy around every project.

Tenet follows a main character named “Protagonist” that journeys through a twilight world of internal espionage on a mission to try a prevent World War 3 from happening in the future. Sounds confusing? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one. Nolan movies for the most part are drastically different. With Tenet, this might not be the case. Based off the trailers, Tenet shares some similarities with Inception. Some fans have even come up with elaborate theories explaining that Tenet is a secret sequel to Inception. While this probably isn’t true, Tenet just like Inception, is going to bend time in order for the characters to complete a goal. Nolan isn’t a stranger to using time as an obstruction. Interstellar, Inception, and Memento all use time as an antagonist. With Tenet we can make an educated guess that time will be the true enemy.

The Cast

Tenet is starring the up and coming actor John David Washington from BlacKkKlansman. Robert Pattinson also stars alongside Washington. The film also features Michael Caine, Elizabeth Debicki, and Kenneth Branagh. Recently, Tenet was rewarded a new song by Travis Scott called “The Plan.” The final trailer used the track as the soundtrack. Nolan described the song as “the voice that became the final piece in a yearlong puzzle.” Christopher Nolan and Travis Scott… A collab I would never expect to see. But hey, it’s 2020. Check out the final trailer for Tenet below.
