Post-Game

So It Begins…

The Sixers 2019/2020 Season has just kicked off with a 107-93 victory over the Boston Celtics.

Simmons: 24 PTS 9 AST 8 REB

Embiid: 15 PTS 3 BLK 13 REB

Richardson 17 PTS 2 BLK 6 REB

Horford 16 PTS 3 AST 2 REB

Harris 15 PTS 15 REB 2 STL

Thybulle 3 PTS 2 STL 2 BLK

The extraordinary defense we dreamed about over the offseason looks to be very much real, but unfortunately so does the nightmarish slow start offense we expected. Most of the teams’ night was spent playing catch up with a rebuilding Celtics team. The Sixers struggled from deep to say the least last night only making 2 threes in the first half and ending the game 7 for 30.

There is no need to overreact to one game, the team is new and the season is still young… BUT I wouldn’t be doing  my job as #1 shit-stirrer if I didn’t say things like ” WE NEED SHOOTERS” or “ARE MARCO AND ERSAN AVAILABLE?”  Obviously, that’s an overreaction, If you hear these phrases in your everyday life please take the proper precautions.

1. Cover your ears

2. Sing “Here They Come” as loud as you can

3. Hide under the nearest desk

4. Buy yourself a Frosty

As “A Basketball Fan” I know the team is gonna struggle at first with this new offensive scheme.  The league is skewed towards shooters and getting open threes, playing through JJ Redick isn’t an option anymore, our style of play has done a complete 180.

“When you all leave the room, you should all write this and hear me loudly: We will end up playing smash-mouth offense and bully ball defense,”- Brett Brown

Smash-mouth offense is what we saw in the second half of this game. Our big boys were clicking out of the locker room, the team took those words to heart driving the lanes and going to the line like it was their job…wait (they have the best job in the world) The Sixers played their way and that enormous momentum carried them through the rest of the game.

The team smashed so hard the refs had to intervene,

and intervene they did there was rarely an offensive possession in the third quarter that didn’t end or start with a whistle.

Through all adversities, the team picked up their shooting from beyond the arc, continued to dominate on defense and pulled down the dub.

…on to the next one.
