Sixers Youth Foundation Opens Learn and Play Center in Camden

Today, was a day for celebration, as the 76ers Youth Foundation partnered with the City of Camden, for the ribbon cutting ceremony to open a brand new Learn and Play Center. The center is located at the Jackie Robinson Community Center in Camden, New Jersey, and offers kids a place to go in their free time to meet friends, play basketball, play video games, do their homework, work on crafts, and much more.

This center provides students with a place to go after school or during the summer, to keep them busy and active. It also gives them an area to be creative and innovate, so we can allow our future generation opportunities to grow. Giving kids a place to create and work without distraction is very important for their development into teenagers and adults.

Camden Mayor Frank Moran said, “this is a great opportunity to keep our great city moving forward and create these opportunities for our children.”

This Center is a win-win for the Sixers Youth Foundation and the City of Camden, because they’re giving the future a safe haven to explore and grow.

Some notable names to attend today’s ceremony were, Sixers Play-by-Play Announcer Marc Zumoff, Camden Mayor Frank Moran, Former Sixers Player World B. Free, COO Lara Price, Executive Director of Social Responsibility Amy Hever, and Sixers President Chris Heck. 76ers mascot Franklin was also in attendance to play the first game on the new chess board.
