Potential Targets For The Sixers After Not Landing An All-Star Talent

Players the Sixers Should Target

The Sixers struck out in star hunting and now it is time to consider starting the year with the team they have or trying to find one more piece that will improve the team. While I don’t think there are any realistic options left that will make a dramatic impact, I have three guys I could see in a Sixers uniform next season. The Sixers adding one of the three I think can make a difference without breaking the bank and jeopardizing our chances on grabbing one of next year’s free agents.

Jamal Crawford

Crawford is still a free agent and has expressed interest in playing for the Sixers. Crawford would add depth to our bench at the point guard position and would be an upgrade from fan favorite T.J. McConnell.  He has outstanding ball handling stills and has the ability to score, but is a streaky shooter.  He would provide a great veteran presence on a young team and would come at a low cost.

Rodney Hood

Hood was traded to the Cavs last year with hopes of being their missing piece to help top the Warriors in the finals. Unfortunately for the Cavs and Hood, he did not play up to the hype. He found himself benched to start the finals playing under four and a half minutes for the first two games of the series. When given a chance to play in the series, Hood showed that he could score and defend. At this point Hood has not accepted the Cavs qualifying offer. If he was to hit the free agency market he could be looking for a “prove myself” deal. The Sixers could be a great team for him to come onto with a more talented roster around him then the Cavs have to offer. Hood has been a very talented 3 and D guy and could help coming off the bench.

Kyle Korver

The once Sixer sharper shooter is still under contract with the Cavaliers. The Sixers have shown interest in trading with the Cavs to bring him back. Cleveland seems to over value Korver at a first round pick which clearly the Sixers wouldn’t and shouldn’t do. If the Sixers can find a way to make a deal work, Korver would provide a veteran presence and a perimeter threat off the bench. Not to mention Korver would be an expiring contract which would be off the books next season.
