Sixers Postgame: Sixers 132 Pistons 133

Tonight was the Blake Griffin show. Dario Saric stood no chance playing defense on him. Griffin was hitting any and all shots he took. Blake had a career high 50 points tonight and 15 rebounds. Silencing the Sixers by taking the lead with 1.6 seconds left in overtime.

JJ Redick! Redick hits a three with two minutes in regulation to help the Sixers get the Sixers to overtime against the Pistons. In the overtime JJ hit a huge three and got the foul. Sixers felt like they were on their way to a win with only a few seconds left on the clock. Giant spark off the bench and was the leader for the Sixers tonight with 30 points.

Sixers ruled Ben Simmons out before the game started in Detroit. Which meant an increased role for Markelle Fultz who started at the point. Markelle showed Sixers fans a huge step forward. He looked confident and comfortable running the point. Fultz scored the Sixers first two points with a little elbow jumper and even hit an open three from the corner. He gave Sixers fans a lot of hope for the future ending the game with 13 points and 5 assist in 21 minutes.

Joel found himself in foul trouble quick to start the game with two fouls in the first quarter. With Embiid on the bench, Amir Johnson logged some promising minutes scoring 6 points in 8 minutes of first half play. Embiid came back in the second quarter and never looked back. Scoring in any way he wanted against Andre Drummond and once again getting Drummond out of the game being involved in Drummond’s second technical. Joel finished the game with 33 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assist.

At the end of the game Brett Brown went with TJ and Reddick over Fultz and Shamet. Fultz is still a young player only playing in his 17th game as an NBA player. TJ has more experience and is better suited down the stretch in a close game. As the season goes on we will likely see Fultz get more time at the end of the game.

Not too much time for the Sixers or the fans to dwell on the loss. Sixers play the Bucks tomorrow and hopefully we see Ben back in action.
