Sixers Post-game Report

After a quick 1st quarter at the local YMCA, the Sixers decided to play defense as they went on their way to a 127-108 win over the Chicago Bulls. Joel Embiid rebounded from a poor shooting performance up in Boston, as he scored a season-high 30 points (9-14) shooting. Robert Covington also got in on the shooting frenzy with 20 points to go on the stat sheet. The most impactful player on the night was Ben Simmons, as he recorded his first triple-double of the season recording 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.

The first quarter had a combined 79 points with the Bulls shooting 77% and the Sixers shooting 72% from the field. At one point, the Bulls hit 13 consecutive shots. This game had a fast pace feel to it but then the game slowed down heading towards the end of the second quarter. A player who stepped up in the last few minutes of the first half was the rookie, Landry Shamet. He was assisted by Ben Simmons in the corner on back to back possessions to knock down consecutive threes to energize the crowd going into halftime. Shamet going forward will be a key factor off the bench to fill a sharpshooter role the Sixers are in desperate need in.

Dario Saric struggled early, due to his offseason play overseas. Let’s not forget, Dario got off to a slow start last year but that did not stop him from being aggressive down low. Tonight was no different, as he got some tough layups and put backs to energize the Sixers in the third quarter.

The story of the night was Markelle Fultz. Fans wanted to see him shoot and boy did they get what they wished for in the latter stages of the game. It happened, he shot and made a three-pointer. He sunk it with poise and confidence and the crowd lost it. Fultz played 32 minutes and finished with 12 points and 5 assists. Brett Brown made sure that the offense was around Fultz the entire 4th quarter so that he could gain confidence in his shot. The players and team believe in him and now that the fans have his back, he needs to build off this performance.

The game was over before the 4th quarter began and the Sixers cruised to their first win of the season in comfort. The Sixers host the Magic on Saturday at 7: 30 pm at the Center. Trust the Process ladies and gentlemen.
