Sixers Decide to Add Depth, Trade for George Hill

The Sixers have traded Tony Bradley, Terrance Ferguson and two future second round picks for Oklahoma City point guard George Hill, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 34-year-old Hill has turned into a bit of a journeyman the last few years since being a key starter on Indiana. Philadelphia will be his sixth team since 2017. However, he is still capable of being one of the best backup point guards in the league. He averaged 11.8 PPG on 38.9% 3P% in 14 games this season before going down with a thumb injury in late January.

If Hill can come back soon, he will add a strong veteran presence to Philly’s bench. The backups have played well while Embiid has been out, but Hill can be trusted to be a consistent contributor and help the players around him. He can definitely be a nice piece to a contending team.

Since the trade was done without giving up valuable bench pieces or draft picks, maybe there is still room for Daryl Morey to make a bigger trade before 3:00 PM. If not, they still land a solid safety net addition.
