Philadelphia 76ers host Fifth Annual Project 76 in Camden
The Sixers and Virtua Health teamed up for the fifth annual Project 76 today in Camden, New Jersey. The event was held at U.S. Wiggins Family School, hosting over 150 volunteers to help build book nooks, for students to explore literature. The Sixers community engagement has helped build ever lasting relationships in the Camden education system.
Virtua Assistant Vice President of Community Health Engagement April Schetler and Philadelphia 76ers Executive Director of Social Responsibility Amy Hever helped guide this project into existence, putting a huge emphasis on education.
The volunteers began to build book nooks, assemble reading and family support kits and clean and beautify U.S. Wiggins Family School in Camden. To make things interesting, Franklin made an appearance as he was even “attempting” to put book nooks together.
After the Sixers pep rally was over, President of the Philadelphia 76ers, Chris Heck, addressed the attendees congratulating everyone for making this a special day for the city of Camden.
The best part about the Philadelphia 76ers employees would be each have to serve 76 hours of community service. This is why this the Sixers are the best organization in the NBA as the culture that is instilled in each employee is second to none. Over a span of a year, there are 10,000 hours achieved annually.
It was a successful day for the Sixers Community Outreach team helping children at the U.S. Wiggins Family School. Look for more events in the near future as the summer continues onward.
