Post-Game

Philadelphia 76ers 97 – Brooklyn Nets 122

Sixers on the road in the second game of a back to back lose to the Nets. Sixers remain winless on the road and continue to go through their struggles. Sixers had a team total of 27 turnovers and once again came out of the half looking flat.

Ben Simmons (along with Covington and Embiid) lead the way in a turnover infested game with 5 turnovers. Turnovers continue to be an Issue for Ben. I mentioned in my pregame that the key to the game tonight was ball control and limiting turnovers. The Sixers played an insanely sloppy game against an opponent that is not overly impressive on the defensive end.

Dario continued to struggle and again seemed a step too slow. If playing international ball is going to lead to a slow start for Dario every season, the Sixers are going to have to address him playing. His struggles are hurting the Sixers early in the season. Tonight was no different. He look flat from the jump.

Sixers live and die from the three point line. Tonight they started the game 0-9 in the first half. Realistically the 3 is part of the game plan for the Sixers so you can’t expect them to stop letting it fly but tonight they were not falling. Sixers ended the game 4-20 from the 3 point line. Shamet lead the team going 2-5 from beyond the arc. Redick, uncharacteristically, struggled only hitting 1 of 6.

Sixers came into the second half looking flat again. Brett Brown needs to find the right rotation to start the second half. Clearly the rotation he continues to go with is not working and either blowup leads or lets the the game get out of hand. I mentioned in my pregame that maybe Wilson Chandler instead of Dario might be the answer. Chandler was inactive tonight as part of the plan to get him back to 100% from his injury.

This is a bad loss for the Sixers but fortunately it is game 11 of 82. Brett Brown needs to address the turnovers and stress ball control. The Sixers will have a few days to dwell over the loss. They don’t play again until Wednesday on the road against a much better team in Indiana. Sixers need the rest having played 5 games in the last 7 days.
