NBA Announces 76ers’ Schedule

It’s here! It’s really, finally here!

The NBA unveiled its regular season schedule on Monday and we now officially know when our sweet boys are coming home. Mark your calendars because the Sixers’ road to an NBA championship begins on October 23rd when the Boston Celtics makes their way to Wells Fargo.

Unfortunately, the Sixers won’t be in Philly for a bit after their opener as nine of their first 13 games are on the road. And if that isn’t bad enough, after their opener, the Sixers only have one nationally televised game – November 22 at home against the Spurs – until the beginning of December. But that’s when the fun begins.

The Sixers are slated for 22 nationally televised game after the first two months of the season, including four on ABC. Of those 22 games, 13 will be at home, so plan your ticket purchases accordingly.

As cool as it is to have a ton of prime time games on the schedule, the Sixers didn’t exactly luck out on their draw. They’ll be playing the Celtics and the Bucks four times each, as well as twice against the Warriors, Clippers, Nets, and Rockets. They’re exciting games, but

Despite the difficult prime time slate, the Sixers’ schedule is very manageable. According to Vegas’ over/under, the Sixers have the second easiest schedule in the NBA, slightly behind the Milwaukee Bucks.

Here are some key dates to note:

  • November 2nd-8th: The Sixers are on a four game west coast road trip including games Portland Trailblazers, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, and Denver Nuggets. A serious test after the first four games of the season.
  • November 13th: The Sixers travel to Orlando to face our old friend, Markelle Fultz. Assuming he’s healthy of course.
  • November 23rd: Jimmy Butler’s return to the Wells Fargo Center. Expect a lot of retirement jokes leading up to that game.
  • December 2nd: Donovan Mitchell comes to Philly. I can only imagine he’ll be wearing some kind of dumb ass hoodie.
  • December 18th-20th: Back-to-back prime-time home games against the Heat and the Mavericks. Jimmy Butler V Sixers pt.2 and Rookie of the Year V Rookie of the Year. Good job NBA schedule makers.
  • December 25th: The Bucks will be visiting Philadelphia for some seasonal cheer. I can only hope Santa brings them a fat “L”.
  • December 31st: The Sixers end 2019 with a trip to Indiana. Not exactly the most happening place to ring in the New Year, but a win would be a nice way to start 2020.
  • January 3rd: The Sixers head to Houston to face Russell Westbrook and the Rockets in prime time. Knowing how things usually go between him and Joel Embiid, there will be blood.
  • January 22nd-28th: Three straight prime time games, at Toronto, home against the Lakers, and then home against the Warriors. One of the Sixers’ toughest stretches of the season.
  • February 11th: The Sixers last game before the All-Star break and they’re facing the Clippers in prime time. Kawhi Leonard needs to pay for his atrocities!
  • February 20th-22nd: The Sixers come back from the break with back-to-back prime time games against the Nets and on the road in Milwaukee. This is where the playoff race kicks into high gear.
  • March 1st-7th: Another tough west coast road trip, this time against the Clippers, Lakers, Kings, and Warriors. This trip will go a long way towards establishing Eastern Conference supremacy.
  • April 7th: Last prime time game of the year and it’s against the Bucks. This one is going to be very important for playoff seeding.
  • April 15th: Last game of the season. The Sixers take on the Hornets at home, so they’ll be ending the regular season with a win.
