Eagles

MUST READ: Eagles Players to Start or Sit

Any Joe Schmo can talk fantasy football; I used to be a Joe Schmo.  That is until I won both my fantasy match-ups this past weekend.  So I don’t mean to toot my own horn or anything, but I definitely have some credibility, a little street credit.  And lucky for you, I am going to breakdown the Eagles that could possibly be in your fantasy lineup, and together, we can determine if they should be in starting lineup for week two or not.  Get out the pen and paper, or open up the ESPN Fantasy app, and let’s get into it.

Carson Wentz (owned in 95.7% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
This Messiah isn’t going to play, I would highly recommend not starting him in any league.  He won’t score a point and I say that with 100% certainty.

Advice: Sit em

Nick Foles (owned in 12.1% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
At the end of the day, you are going to do whatever you want, but I can’t comfortably tell you that Nick Foles should be in your starting lineup.  First, let me give you the facts.  Foles ended last Thursday’s contest with 117 yards, an interception and not a single touchdown.  Carry the three, subtract the five, that’s just 5.1 points.  The Buccaneers are coming off a win against the Saints, and Drew Brees put up 31.6 points, but it was a shootout.  We shouldn’t expect that to be replicated when the Bucs and the Birds square off Sunday.  Alshon Jeffery is still out, And I don’t expect Foles to catch any passes this game, which could help in a PPR league.  There is without question better quarterbacks on your waiver wire if you’re looking for help at QB.

Advice: Sit em

Jay Ajayi (Owned in 97.7% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
If you own Ajayi, congratulations on the 20.2 points from your RB2 last week.  I am trying to come up with a hot take for Jay Ajayi, but honestly I’m having difficulty doing so.  The Tampa Bay defense went up against star Alvin Kamara, who finished with 43.1 points.  Sit back down and relax, insert reader’s name here, Kamara caught 9 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown.  I don’t believe Ajayi is capable of putting up those numbers no matter what team he plays.  However, I think Doug P and company knows the ball needs to be in his hands to get the running game going.

Advice: Start em

Darren Sproles (Owned in 10.2% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
A Swiss army knife, like myself I must add, if your looking for anyone to copy Kamara’s success against the Tampa Bay D it would be Sproles.  He could be a potential sleeper at the flex position depending on how deep your league is. Darren isn’t much of a force in the running game for the birds, but anytime 43 in green is on the field and healthy there can be boom potential. Last week he went for 7.2 points and hauled in four catches for 20 yards, you can expect him at the least, to get a couple of catches which can be beneficial in a PPR league.

Advice: Start em

Corey Clement (Owned in 22.2% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
I was pleasantly surprised to see that two out of every ten people in ESPN Fantasy Football leagues owned Corey, a South Jersey product like myself, but that doesn’t mean he should be in your lineup.  Last game against Atlanta, he had just five rushing attempts for a grand total of, drumroll please, 2.6 points.  Clement has already proven that he belongs in the NFL after a stellar rookie season, but I’m not so sure he belongs in a Fantasy Football starting lineup.  There are too many cooks in the kitchen for CC to have fantasy impact at this point in the season, but his role will only continue to grow as the season progresses.

Advice: Sit em

Alshon Jeffery (Owned in 89.5% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
They (people who know much more about football than I do) are saying there is a chance he plays, but I wouldn’t risk it.  For starters, he’s doubtful so that’s pretty self-explanatory.  Even if he does play, he would be on a snap count, and as a Fantasy Football General Manager, those words can drive your crazy.  To the 89.5% of the folks who own him in your league, I would leave him on the bench.  To the 10.5% of the population that see him sitting on waivers, grab the guy, he can play good football.

Advice: Sit em

Nelson Agholor (Owned in 83.1% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
I really didn’t want to make this about me, but two years ago I was one of those people who shared a GoFundMe on Facebook, calling for Agholor to be cut.  Today I stand before you all as one of Nelson’s biggest fans and supporters.  I started him at the flex last week over Will Fuller V, who ended up not even playing last Sunday, only adding to my acumen.  I want to focus on the fact that he caught eight passes.  Nothing else really matters to be honest. With Jeffery out, and Ertz dropping passes week one, he is Nick Foles’s favorite weapon.  I can picture it right now, first play of the second half, Foles gets the ball, hands it off to Ajayi, Ajayi flicks it back to Foles for a 60 yard bomb to Nelson Agholor for the score.

Advice: Start em

Mike Wallace (Owned in 21.8% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
Trying to move this thing along so I’m just going to say it.  If you own Mike Wallace, keep him on your bench.  I wouldn’t play the guy, nor should you.
*I also did this incase Wallace is reading, I hope I can light a fire under your ass.  Lets be a threat out there, Mike.

Advice: Sit em

Zach Ertz (Owned in 99.9% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
Obviously if you own Zach Ertz you are going to start him.  He dropped some balls last week, but I bet that was just him knocking some of the rust off.  The Buccaneers Saints game was very high scoring, and although I don’t expect the score of this game to be as high, I believe Ertz will have a day.  He is one of, if not the best route running tight end in the league, and he is also Nick Foles security blanket on offense.

Advice: Start em

Eagles D/Special Teams (Owned in 98.3% of ESPN Fantasy Football leagues)
This could be a potentially dangerous play if you think the Buccaneers will have continued success on offense like they did last week.  Luckily for you, I don’t believe that will happen.  The Eagles D allowed just 12 points to the Falcons last game, and the Falcons were believed to have one of the most high-powered offenses in the league.  I think the personnel the Eagles have on defense, on top of the fact that DeSean Jackson is questionable, is cause for the Eagles to show their dominance and beat up on Tampa Bay pretty badly.  Expect the Eagles secondary to come up with some big plays in this game.  The Bucs quarterback is a Harvard man, so he will be (without doubt) smart with the football.  But you shouldn’t be worried with names like Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Jordan Hicks, Malcolm Jenkins, and Jalen Mills on defense.

Advice: Start em
