Joel Embiid Skeptical of NBA Bubble but Ready to Get Back and Dominate

JoJo’s words from a video conference call earlier today gained plenty of attention from around the NBA.

The three-time all star spoke his concerns about the league returning to play during the pandemic. However, he is now committed to playing and wants to fight for a championship.

Embiid admitted he “hated the idea” of the NBA’s plan to resume at first, but now he’s willing to go play in Orlando. He still has concerns about safety while in the bubble. He trusts himself to “do the right thing” but does not think everyone else there will do the same.

On a more optimistic look, it sounds like the star center is physically ready to play. Brett Brown and Josh Richardson have made recent statements about Embiid being healthy and in great shape, and he confirmed that to the media, adding he needs to be assertive.

“This is my opportunity,” Embiid said. “I believe we have a great chance of winning the championship…I want to represent the city…I’ve been working too hard for this.”

A star player giving his honest opinions on the matter of safety makes you wonder – how many other players or coaches feel the same way? Will anyone else will follow suit by speaking out like Embiid? Maybe this could end up helping the NBA by raising awareness for people to stay in the bubble and stay as cautious as possible. After all, there is nothing more we would enjoy right now than watching the Sixers battle it out in some late-summer playoff basketball. Let’s hope they can stay safe and get this done. The Sixers are ready to take the league by storm.
