Jimmy Butler is as close to Allen Iverson as any Sixers since AI departed from the organization a decade ago. Butler represents what this city is all about, grit. This is for the 8-6pm workers who are putting in overtime to put food on the table, the artists putting in the after hours to perfect their craft, and the 100-year-old Italian restaurant down on 10th and Lombard. Elton Brand made it clear that they want to have Butler around for a long time, but for now, Butler is here for the rest of the season and then an option for next season. There has been talk that the Sixers will offer a long-term deal as long as both sides blend together. Jimmy Butler is not here for money, which is the best thing to come out of an athletes mouth since Tim Tebows rant on the Maryland football program a few weeks back.

A reporter asked for Jimmy Butler to describe himself off the court and he said that he plays dominos and cards as a hobby. He also mentioned that he drives a minivan so that tells you he is as blue-collar as they get. The rest of this season will be interesting to see how Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler work together. Without a doubt, Butler has talent, but his history with his other teams have both ended on a negative front. The Sixers win now mode and the cities grit will hopefully enhance Jimmy Butler as a player and a person. Now its time to enjoy the show, get the popcorn and soda ready.
