In 2019, New Jersey made a push to surpass Nevada as the #1 state for money spent on sports betting in the country, when in its first calendar year of operations as a legal state for betting on sports, over 4.5 billion dollars was spent between all of the different sports-books, per legalsportsbetting.com.
I’m happy to say the hundreds (yes hundreds, luckily not yet thousands) of dollars I’ve “donated” to Vegas in the last 23-ish months accounts for less than .000001% of that. It also relieves me to know that there are thousands of degenerate gamblers out there just like me, and if you are still reading this, I am assuming just like you as well.
To introduce myself, my name is Jake Gibson, and I am one of the new additions to the Phifth Quarter team. My goal is to reach all of the reckless gamblers in the Delaware Valley region and beyond.
I will be keeping track of my picks, and hopefully making everyone who follows some money, but at the very least having fun with it along the way. Throughout this pandemic, not much has been as enjoyable for me as turning on whatever game
I can find, betting on whichever team passes the 30-second-eye test, and screaming at a 20 year old college QB to throw the ball so my spread covers- yes AJ Mayer from Miami university of Ohio, I’m looking directly at you. In short, I am just a local depressed Philly sports fan who is passionate about sports betting and will be regularly posting NBA picks once the season begins.
