Game 7: Sixers vs. Hawks Post-Game Recap

The Philadelphia 76ers got above .500 for the first time this season when they took down the Atlanta Hawks 113-92 tonight. For what seemed like the worst first half the Sixers have played all season, they somehow kept it together against the Hawks.

In the first half, the Hawks double teamed Joel Embiid and kept the Sixers superstar quiet, while keeping the game within reason. It seemed like the entire first half was riddled with bad turnovers and missed opportunities to take over the game.  Going into the half tied at 47 the Sixers needed to make adjustments and more simply put, make their shots. Dario Saric did not make a basket until the third quarter and JJ Reddick struggled beyond the arc.

Coming out in the second half the Sixers executed and played stellar defense. The team outscored the Hawks 31-13 in the third quarter and took control of the game. Ben Simmons showed exactly why some consider him a top 15 NBA player by making unbelievable passes and fighting hard on the boards. Simmons finished 1 assist shy of a triple double totally 21 points 12 rebounds and 9 assists.

Markelle Fultz provided a spark tonight by hitting another crucial three pointer and converting a highlight real dunk over Hawks Forward Deandre Bembry. You could tell as the game went on, Fultz confidence grew with every shot he took. Markelle finished with a career high in points 16. He also added 7 assists and 4 rebounds.

The Sixers are back in action tomorrow against the Toronto Raptors in Toronto. Kawhi Leonard (Rest) is expected to play.
