Tobias Harris provides aid to Corona Virus relief efforts
Tobias Harris is too good for this world and we do not deserve him. He is better than all of us.
On Monday, Habitat for Humanity of Philadelphia announced a partnership with Harris to help provide three months of mortgage payment assistance to 12 Habitat families impacted by COVID-19 in East and West Philadelphia.
“This is a huge blessing and means one less thing to worry about,” said Sharon, Habitat Homeowner mother of two sons. “I’m grateful and this has eased my mind and my worries. It is so amazing that Tobias would be that generous.” Thank you, Tobias Harris, for your support! https://t.co/1XiRc9FeRj

In addition to the mortgage assistance, Harris will provide Chick-Fil-A lunches for 250 health care workers at Temple University hospital on Tuesday. He says the lunch is his way of thanking all those working on the frontlines. Here’s hoping he doesn’t forget the buscuits like a certain rookie who will remain unnamed.
And if free lunches and mortgage payments weren’t enough, Harris is also donating 20,000 children’s books to the Philadelphia Free Library’s Read by 4th project, to provide books for home libraries around Philadelphia. Through the Read by 4th project, about 5,000 children will receive books for home libraries, including the Philadelphia Housing Authority, People’s Emergency Center, and Action for Early Learning. Harris will also host virtual read-along sessions as part of his “Tobias Lit Lab” program, which helps keep children engaged and promotes reading.
Mike Scott once said Tobias Harris reads books, now a whole lot of Philadelphia children will as well.

In addition to all of his personal donations, Harris will join Ben Simmons’ Philly Pledge movement to promote donations to Philadelphia non-profits assisting in COVID-19 relief. Harris is the latest athlete to commit to Simmons’ movement and joins the likes of Bryce Harper, Julie and Zach Ertz, and Claude Giroux, who have already made the Philly Pledge.
Harris’ contract has been a point of contention among fans, but to see him use his max-contract money in such a selfless way is inspiring. Honestly, all of this makes me wish the Sixers had paid him more.
