What They’re Wearing – 82-0

After a nail-biter in Atlanta, the team remains on pace for an 82-0 season.

Let’s take a look at the on court footwear offerings from the last remaining unbeaten team in the Eastern Conference.

No Reebok for Josh Richardson

After pulling out the Reebok Questions on opening night, Richardson wore the Nike KD Trey 5 VII in Detroit and Atlanta.  This is an interesting choice considering these are the value model of Kevin Durant’s Nike line.  These retail for $90 and feature lower-end technology than the top tier Nike models.

I would love to see the details of the contract he has with Reebok.  Is it like Brock Lesnar with WWE where they have a certain number of dates per year that he is expected to show up? Obviously, Reebok cares more that he wears their sneakers for prime time ESPN or TNT games than on a random Monday night in Atlanta.  I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Mike Scott wears Air Force Max

Mike Scott played in the Nike Air Force Max Low.  These are a modern take on Nike’s classic Air Force Max line from the 90s that was worn by players like Charles Barkley and the Fab Five.  These are a nice looking model that takes well to different color variations.

Scott played a great game against Detroit on Saturday and had an even better post-game interview, ya know what I’m sayin’.  Unfortunately, on Monday he was tossed for a bogus flagrant foul in the first half.

Tobias Harris continues his Kobe ways

Tobias Harris played in the same sneakers in Detroit that he wore opening night – Nike Zoom Kobe 4 Protro ‘Wizenard’.  He played in another pair of the Kobe 4s in Atlanta.  He wore the Nike Zoom Kobe 4 ‘Varsity Blue’.  It is unclear if these have been updated to the Protro version or they are originals. I would assume they are the former.

The Protro line of the Kobe sneakers began with the Nike Zoom Kobe 1.  Protro is a portmanteau of Professional and Retro.  The line is comprised of classic Kobe models with updated, modern cushioning technology.

Harris changed sneakers at halftime of the Hawks game.  He played the second half in the Nike Zoom Kobe 8 ‘Pit Viper’.

Ben Simmons breaks out new Nike Zoom Rize

Simmons wore two new versions of his sneaker choice this season.  On Saturday against the Pistons, he pulled out a black pair.  On Monday at the Hawks he played in the beige-ish pair above.  I like that he’s being more creative than we’ve seen him in the past.  Keep it up.

Sixers Notes

Pistons Notes

  • Pistons guard Langston Galloway has his own sneaker, the LG9-II, with Los Angeles-based company Q4 Sports.  He typically wears vibrant customs.  As Galloway himself pointed out (check out that quote Tweet, fam) these are pink for breast cancer awareness and feature Nintendo character Kirby.
  • Derrick Rose wore the ‘Boardwalk’ colorway of his newest signature model, the adidas D Rose 10.

Hawks Notes

  • Ageless wonder Vince Carter will be wearing the Nike Shox BB4 for his farewell tour this season.   He wore the white and black patent leather version above against the Sixers.
  • Trey Young played in an all white version of the adidas N3XT L3V3L.
  • Former Sixer Evan Turner has a sneaker contract with Chinese brand Li-Ning.  He’s wearing the Li-Ning Speed VI.
