Around The NBA

What They’re Wearing – All-Star Game and Beyond

Obviously the big event since we last convened was the 2019 NBA All-Star Game.  Joel and Ben represented Philadelphia well in Charlotte.  Simmons played in both the main game and Rising Stars Challenge.  Joel showed out with a double-double in 23 minutes.  I won’t be giving a full recap of all of the sneakers from the game, but if you’re looking for a rundown of the All-Star Game kicks check out the preview I wrote for Uni Watch.

Lets’ get rolling.

Ben Simmons

Like I mentioned previously, Ben played in two games All-Star Weekend.  He played in various colorways of his trusty Nike Hyperdunk X, much like he’s done all season.  In the actual All-Star Game, Ben played in the black and yellow version above.  For the Rising Stars Challenge, he wore the blue rendition that Nike created for the game.

Ben ended up changing into mismatched yellow and green Hyperdunks for the second half, which he wore them again for Australian Heritage Night at Wells Fargo when the Heat came to town a few nights later.  For the past few games, Simmons has worn a gray colorway with hits of mint green and orange.

Joel Embiid

Joel played in a pair of the Under Armour Anatomix Spawn that were designed in collaboration with kids from the Boys and Girls Club from the Northeast Frankford section of the city.  He hasn’t had any action since All-Star Weekend.

Jimmy Butler

Judging by his Instagram, Jimmy took a nice vacation when Ben and Joel were playing in Charlotte.  Butler has been wearing his pseudo-signature model, the Jordan Supreme Elevation, solely for the last few weeks.  He’s pulled out countless player exclusives in the second half of February.  Here’s a quick review – Yo! MTV Raps version above against the Celtics, City Edition gray in MSG, bright crimson version shouting out his hometown of Tomball, TX against Miami, blue and white Sixers’ colorway versus the Trailblazers, black with patent leather giving Jordan XI vibes in New Orleans, and finally a purple Joker-ish version against the Thunder.

Tobias Harris

Tobias Harris continues to wear sneakers from his seemingly never-ending rotation of Kobe models.  The most interesting model is the Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Camo Blue’ that he laced up in OKC.

Comme des Keystonęs 👁💙👁

A post shared by Danny Finocchio (@danny_finocchio) on

On a quick personal note, my dude Danny customized a pair of Reebok’s with some Pennsylvania flair.  Dubbed the Comme des Keystonęs, he created them as an homage to the Comme des Garçons x Converse – substituting the red heart with a blue keystone.   Size 12, please.

That’s it for this time around.

Stay tuned.
