Welcome to the official first pick of the year in Jake’s gambling corner on the Phifth Quarter.
I have been pretty hot personally with NBA picks and am excited to make everyone here some money as well. I’ll start with some honorable mentions tonight that would be good bets as well. The spread for tonight’s game against Charlotte has gone from Sixers by 10.5 to Sixers by 8. Now I am not sure exactly why this might be, but I love the sixers -8. A reason not to do this is because the Sixers seemed like they could not miss in the last outing against the Hornets- but neither did Terry Rozier. I expect more like a 20 point night from Rozier and maybe some sloppier shooting by the Sixers, but ultimately a similar result, Sixers by a bit over 10. I think Sixers -8 is a safe bet for tonight. Another pick I like is Tobias over 18.5 points. Tobi has just been named Eastern Conference Player of the week for the first time throughout his tenure in Philadelphia and is shooting lights out from deep at 48.5% on the season. Vegas seems to think that will correct sooner than later but I think Tobi heard the slander and is looking to live up to the big money we gave him this season by averaging over 20 a night. Tobias over 18.5 points is another good pick for tonight’s game. All this being said, my first official pick of the year is…

Seth Curry OVER 14.5 Points -121
Place $25 on this on DK to win $20.75 with those odds before tip-off. Seth has been lights out all year and makes more sense in this system than maybe even JJ did 2 years ago. Remarkably, he is an even better shooter than JJ and is getting better at the dribble-handoff with Jo almost every night. His ability to be a secondary playmaker behind Ben has also stood out to me as a highlight through the first six games. He is going to prove to be an extremely influential member of this team and I bet he looks to follow up on his brother’s big night with a solid night of his own, in turn making this over hit easily.
